Microphthalmia and anophthalmia are conditions where there is either a
formed small, disorganized eye or no eye present. If there is no visual potential and the eye is small or there is no eye present, therapy is aimed at making the eyelids and surrounding orbit grow normally. An artificial eye is also placed. Often orbital and/or eyelid surgery is needed to accomplish this goal. Early treatment is essential.
